Vajrabodhi Guest House

About twenty five years ago, a renowned Buddhist Monk of Theravada Tradition Ven. Rahul Sankrityayan started his spiritual life as a humble monk and spent long years in meditation retreat in a village named Mocharim situated on the bank of river Niranjana.

The Mucalinda Lake and The Rajayatana Tree under which the Lord Buddha spent and meditated on sixth and seventh week after His supreme enlightenment were in the village Mocharim. Those two places are still enshrined there as it were during Buddha’s time and revered by devout Buddhists from all over the world.

The village Mocharim is just 2 km. away from the World Heritage Site Mahabodhi Mahavihara, Bodhgaya where the Siddharta Gautama attained Buddhahood.  Since his awakening Ven. Rahul Sankrityayan has been endeavouring relentlessly to propagate Dhamma (Doctrine of the Lord Buddha) and to improve the quality of life of the people living in and around the village providing them with education, healthcare, food and accommodation.
